UIST Readnoise

For UIST the formula used depends on the number of reads performed. For data taken with fewer than 13 reads, the formula used is:

\begin{displaymath}V_{RN} = \frac{( RN * ( -0.0322 * ( N - 1 ) + 1.0322 ) )^{2}}{gain^{2}} \end{displaymath}

For data taken with between 13 and 51 reads the formula used is:

\begin{displaymath}V_{RN} = \frac{( 1.5616 * RN * ( ( N - 1 )^{-0.3568} ) )^{2}}{gain^{2}} \end{displaymath}

For data taken with more than 51 reads the variance due to readnoise is:

\begin{displaymath}V_{RN} = \frac{225}{gain^{2}} \end{displaymath}

For all formulas RN is the readnoise in electrons, N is the number of reads, and gain is the detector gain in electrons per ADU.
