Initialization

INITIALIZE-PARAMETERS Reset all flags to default values

SPECX contains a vast array of flags, variables and default values. The first time you use the program you don't want to have to set all of these up, and so they have been assigned standard default values, most of which will work after a fashion for nearly all data. As you use the program these flags and defaults will change - either because you use one of the SET commands to change them directly, or because when you enter a value in response to a prompt it then becomes the new default.

Because the environment is saved after each command, you will not normally need to go through and change large numbers of values at any one time. I can think of at least two exceptions to this `rule' however. First, if you make a total foul-up you may find it better to go back to the beginning and start again. Second, you may be starting to analyse some totally different data, and you know that many of your current defaults will need changing. Or you may accidentally delete your DUMP file. INITIALIZE-PARAMETERS restores all programs flags and variables to their initial defaults. It also closes all data files, and flags the stack as empty. It is therefore equivalent to invoking SPECX afresh after deleting the dump file SPECX.DMP
